Created to provide free health and screening services for all whānau in Hauraki, Pito Hauora currently offers cervical and breast screening services and funded immunisations.

Screening Services Available
Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers and with regular cervical screening and HPV immunisation, you will be able to catch any warning signs early before cancer can develop. Of the 180 people who get cervical cancer in Aotearoa New Zealand every year, 85% have either never been screened or have not had regular screening.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in Aotearoa affecting wāhine and with regular screening, you can catch it early, before it spreads. Mammograms can show changes within the breasts before they can be felt which is why mammograms are your best chance of catching breast cancer early.
With more than 3000 women diagnosed with breast cancer every year, now is the time to get screened or even become aware of the symptoms associated with breast cancer.

Bowel cancer is the second highest cause of death by cancer in New Zealand and if found early, it is curable in more than 90% of cases. Bowel cancer is more common for those over 50 years old, but it can affect people of all ages. In some cases of bowel cancer, there are no symptoms or warning signs which makes bowel screening your best chance

Getting immunised is one step to protect yourself and others against vaccine-preventable diseases. It can also help protect people who are not able to be immunised due to age or a specific health condition.
At Pito Hauora, there are a number of free vaccinations available for whānau such as immunisation against measles and mumps for tamariki to the flu vaccine available to those with a respiratory disease, are hapū or are aged 65 and over.
